Privacy

Roamwell is a travel app for one Trip at a time: Boards for the places you want to go, Trips for the Plan and the day you’re living, and Journal for what you’ll keep. Piper Kennedy Ventures, LLC (“PKV Apps”, “we”) makes Roamwell. This page says what Roamwell does with your data, in plain words.

The short version

Without an account

You don’t need an account to use the Roamwell app. Until you Sign in, your trips, Plan, Boards, and Journal stay on the iPhone or iPad you’re using. Nothing goes to a Roamwell server unless a section below says so, and each of those is your choice.

If you back up your device, Apple’s backup may include Roamwell’s data. That backup is between you and Apple.

Photos and camera

Roamwell reads photos from your trip’s dates to draft each day’s Chapter. It looks at them on your device. Your photos stay in your library. Roamwell does not upload your photo library to a Roamwell server.

Roamwell drafts each Chapter from evidence you can edit — photos from the trip’s dates and stops it noticed that you kept. You can remove any photo or stop, and you can rewrite every word.

The camera is used when you take a photo for a Board or a check-in.

Location

Location is optional. While a Trip is live, Roamwell can notice the places you stop using Apple’s low-power visit detection. That is not continuous GPS, and there is no trail of your whole day. If you allow Always, this works when the app is closed. It starts when you start a Trip and stops when you tap End trip. Saving to a Board never turns on Location.

Look up place names is on by default. When it’s on, Roamwell sends coordinates to Apple Maps to find the name of a place and nearby points of interest. Your photos are not sent. You can turn it off anytime in Settings under Places.

Around Me on Trips opens Apple Maps. That search is handled by Apple.

For restaurants you remember, Roamwell may look up public cuisine tags on OpenStreetMap near the place’s coordinates. It matches the name on your device. It does not send the name, photos, or journal text.

When you Sign in

Sign in is optional in the app. The web app needs it, because it has no storage of its own. When you Sign in, we keep an account ID and the email address you sign in with. If you use Sign in with Apple, that can be a Hide My Email address.

After you Sign in and choose to add this device’s trips and Boards to your account:

Emailed plans

You can forward booking emails to the booking email address Roamwell gives you. Roamwell’s email service reads those messages to build your Plan. That uses the booking emails you send and the email address they came from. It does not touch your photo library or your Journal.

If you claim a held itinerary with a code, Roamwell checks the email address and code you enter, then connects this device to your account.

Writing intelligence

Writing intelligence in Settings is Off by default. You choose one:

Prompt host

This is off unless you set it up. Roamwell’s writing and Ask Roamwell instructions are built into the app. In Settings, you can point Roamwell at a folder on the web that replaces them. If you do, Roamwell downloads those instruction files with the access token you enter. The request doesn’t include your photos, Chapters, or Plan.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics is Off unless you turn it on, during setup or in Settings. When it’s on, Roamwell sends crash and performance reports, the app version, and a random install identifier. A new identifier is made if you reinstall. Reports never include photos, coordinates, place names, or journal writing. Reports are kept for up to 90 days. They aren’t linked to your account and aren’t used for tracking or ads. Turn Diagnostics off to stop sending them. To delete reports you already sent, email info@roamwellapp.com.

If you install a test build through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple may collect crash reports. That is Apple’s service, not ours.

Notifications

The daily reminder is a notification set on your device. Roamwell doesn’t send you push notifications. If you Sign in, iCloud may wake Roamwell in the background to sync your Journal. You won’t see those.

Siri, Spotlight, and Ask Roamwell

Siri’s speech recognition is Apple’s. Ask Roamwell answers from the places you remember and your Plan on your device. Trip and Plan items you see in Spotlight are indexed on your device. None of this goes to a Roamwell server.

Sharing

Nothing is shared unless you share it. There’s no feed, no followers, and no public Boards or trips. When you share a Chapter, a Plan file, a Board, or the Support debug log, you choose where it goes using the share sheet. Share Board sends a copy of that Board. It doesn’t give anyone access to your account.

If you post a Chapter to Instagram or Facebook, you are sending that image to them, and their terms apply. Roamwell doesn’t use Facebook Login and doesn’t keep a Facebook or Instagram account, user ID, or friends list. To remove a post, delete it in that app.

Service providers

We use a small number of companies to run Roamwell for us: hosting, a database, email handling, and, for Cloud writing, a language model provider. They process data only to provide those services to us.

Early access

If you join the early-access list on the Roamwell website, we keep the email address you type, anything you add in the optional note, a short label for where you came from when the page address has one, and when you asked. We use that list to choose who is invited to try the iPhone app through Apple TestFlight. Apple sends the invitation and handles the install. We don’t use this list for ads. To be removed, email info@roamwellapp.com from that address.

What we don’t do

Children

Roamwell is not directed at children under 13.

Deleting your data

Delete a Trip, Board, or Chapter in the app. Deleted items may stay in Deleted items for a while so you can restore them. Then they are removed. If you’ve signed in, deleting a Board or Plan item removes it from your account too, and deleting from Journal removes it from your other devices.

Deleting the app removes Roamwell’s data from that device. Your photos stay in your library. To stop Photos, Location, or camera access, use iOS Settings.

Roamwell does not use Facebook Login and does not store a Facebook or Instagram account, user ID, or friends list. Sharing a Chapter is you sending that image through the system share sheet or a Stories pasteboard. Delete or unpublish that post in Instagram or Facebook. Roamwell has no Meta user data to erase.

To delete your Roamwell account and everything we keep for it, including emailed plans and Board images, email info@roamwellapp.com from the address on your account.

If we change this page, we’ll update the date at the top. The date at the top is the current version.
